Must Know About BITSAT 2020

BITSAT is being conducted by Birla Institute of Technology and Science every year for admission of candidates to its various campuses inside India.

The courses to which the aspirants would be admitted to include Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.) in various streams like civil, electrical engineering, mechanical, manufacturing, computer science, electronics and instrumentation, Bachelors in Pharmacy (B. Pharm.), and Masters in Science in fields like biological sciences, chemistry, economics, mathematics, and physics.

BITSAT Exam Pattern 2020

Schedule

  • The BITSAT exam 2020 will be conducted between 15th May to 20th June of 2020
  • Candidates can choose any date within the above-mentioned time frame

Exam center

  • The exam will be conducted at various locations within the country
  • While applying, the candidate is expected to choose the location along with time and date for writing the examination

Number of Attempts

  • The maximum number of attempts per candidate is 2
  • The candidate can only take the test once in a year

Wait-List Preparation

  • The wait-list will be prepared as per admission to the choice of the institute and not the choice of course
  • Sliding up option will be available only after the entire admission process is over
  • Wait-lists are separate for admission to B. Pharm with respect to other courses

Mode of administration

  • BITSAT question paper for all the courses will be administered online through computer-based mode.

BITSAT Cut off Score

  • Cut off scores are calculated based on individual institutes and branches wise
  • Cut off scores are calculated based on the total number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level, total number of seats, and previous year pattern
  • The cut off scores are expected to increase every passing year
  • Cut off scores are universal and will not differ based on any categories
  • On an average from previous year patterns, a score of 300 admits a candidate to any of the course while a score above 400 will result in admission to the desired branch

Number of Questions

BITSAT question paper pattern will consist of a total number of 150 questions from mathematics, physics, chemistry and literature with the below weight per subject

  • Section 1 from physics will consist of 40 questions
  • Section 2 from chemistry will consist of 40 questions
  • Section 3 from the literature will consist of 25 questions – 15 questions from English proficiency, 10 questions from logical reasoning
  • Section 4 from mathematics (biology for B.Pharm.) will consist of 45 questions

Exam Medium

  • The BITSAT 2020 will be done only in English medium

Type of Questions

  • All of 150 questions will be of multiple-choice questions with only one correct answer

Marking Scheme

  • Correct answers yield a total of 3 marks
  • Wrong answers carry a negative marking of 1 mark

Exam Syllabus

  • The questions will be prepared from NCERT 11th and 12th standard books

Duration of the Exam

  • The study will be conducted for 3 hours
  • There are no time restrictions per section
  • The timing can be chosen either in the morning (10 am – 1 pm) or in the evening ( 2 pm – 5 pm)

Extra Questions

  • A total of 150 questions are compulsory in BITSAT
  • If the candidate has time left within the stipulated duration, he/she can attempt an additional question set of 12 questions
  • The 12 questions will be from physics, chemistry, and mathematics/biology with 4 questions from each subject
  • To opt for an additional set of questions, candidates will have to submit their responses for the actual question paper of 150 questions
  • Once the candidate chooses to write the additional questions, he/she will not be entertained to make changes to the 150 questions from the compulsory section
  • The marking scheme for this section is the same as the other section

  • BITSAT is an online test with a 3-hour duration
  • Candidates can choose their date of examination on any date between May 15th to 20th June 2020
