KVPY 2019 Exam Dates – Important Dates for Stream SA, SX & SB

Started in the year of 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is an extensive programme providing a gateway for students into receiving a scholarship up to Pre Ph.D. level. Candidates are lured into pursuing pure science by offering contingency grants provided by IISc. It is to be noted that the KVPY scholarship is only offered to Indian Nationals/Citizen of Indian willing to study in India.

According to the official KVPY site, the exam is going to be held on November 3, 2019, in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. IISc Bangalore has released the KVPY application form for the year 2019 at the official KVPY website on July 8, 2019. Interested students must go through the eligibility criteria given below before applying for any of the 3 streams.

The last date to apply for KVPY 2019 is Aug 20.

KVPY Exam Dates

KVPY is conducted for class 11th, 12th and 1st-year undergraduates having 3 possible streams SA, SB and SX each of them having 2 parts.

SA: For students in Class 11th

SX: For students in class 12th

SB: For students in 1st year of their Graduation

The two parts have different weight age of marks and different negative marks. Consisting of 4 sections Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology KVPY checks the knowledge of students as a whole in the fields of science. For students appearing under SA stream, all the sections are compulsory while for students under SB and SX stream they need to have any 3 of the above streams. In any stream, the total marks remain 100.

The exam is divided into two stages:

           Aptitude Test

           Personal Interview

Selection is done with 75 % weightage on Aptitude marks and 25% on Personal Interview.

Eligibility

KVPY Stream SA for Class XI

• The student should be having Science/ Pursuing Science subject of class 11th in the year of 2019-2020
• The student if is of a general category then must have secured 75% (65% for any other category like SC/ST/PWD) taking the aggregated percentage of Maths and Science in Class 10th Boards Examination.
• The only condition under which these students would be getting a scholarship is if they undertake an undergraduate course in Basic Science after securing a minimum of 60% score in science subjects 12th Boards for general category students(50% other category students like SC/ST/PWD).

KVPY Stream SX for Class XII

• Students should be having Science/ Pursuing Science subject of class 12th in the year of 2019-2020
• Students must have secured 75% (65% for any other category like SC/ST/PWD) taking the aggregated percentage of Maths and Science in Class 10th Boards Examination.
• Students also needs to have a minimum score of 60% score in science subjects (which includes (physics/chemistry/maths/biology)(50% for other category students like SC/ST/PWD) in 12th Boards.
• The only condition under which these students would be getting a scholarship is if they undertake an undergraduate course in Basic Science after fulfilling all the above criteria.

KVPY Stream SB for UG (Undergraduate)

·       Student should be pursuing his 1st year of under graduation in any of the given Basic Science programmes such as BSc./BS/Integrated MSc./Integrated MS/BMath/BStat consisting of Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics and biology in the academic year of 2019-2020.

·       The students must have secured a minimum percentage of 60% if is a general category (50% other category students like SC/ST/PWD) student, aggregating the marks of Mathematics and Science subjects consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Biology in class 12th Board examinations.

·       The student should have secured 60% score if is of general category(50% other category students like SC/ST/PWD ) in their 1st-semester examination if awarded before receiving the fellowship.
