Central Board of Secondary Education

Central Board of Secondary Education is the only national education board of the country for both public and private schools. CBSE is an autonomous body which works under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

It is one of the most prestigious education boards of India. The main aim of CBSE is to provide a holistic and complete environment for students to study. CBSE is known for its well structured exam pattern, up to date syllabus which helps to get ready for future competitive exams also. There are more than 20000+ schools in india following the CBSE board curriculum. The current chairperson is Mrs. Anita Karwal.

Previously CBSE used to conduct various competitive exams as well such as JEE main, NEET, CBSE NET, etc., but now all these exams are conducted by a new government body known as National Testing Agency. Now cbse is incharge of all board examinations.

In this article we have included all the details about the cbse board exams. We have also included details about the UGC NET or better called the CBSE NET.

Changes in CBSE Board Exam

• The practical exams for class 10^th and 12^th will be held on external examination centers. To ensure fair practice in practical exam CBSE has made this rule.
• The main exams will be conducted before the vocational exams. It means the exam subject with most number of applicants will be conducted before that of less number of applicants. For eg., mathematics has the most number of applicants its exam will be conducted before any other subject.
• More number of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) will be introduced in the exam paper and the number of descriptive type of questions will be less. To reduce the overall time consumption and difficulty level of the paper this step has been taken.
• Number of internal choices in the paper have been increased to make it more student friendly.

CBSE Board Exam Dates 2020 (tentative)

CBSE will release the official date sheet for board exams in the month of November or December 2019. Generally the CBSE exam are conducted in February or March.

Official stats for the year 2019 shows that, a total of 3,25,638 students have registered for the class 10^th examination out of which only 3,22,067 students appeared for the exam. The passing percentage was 80.97%.

For class 12^th, a total of 12,18,393 students from all streams registered for the board exam. Out of which only 12,05,427 students appeared for the exam and the passing percentage was 83.40%.

CBSE 10^th Class Exam Scheme

• The student can choose between the two levels in the mathematics paper. One paper will be harder than the other. The main aim of CBSE behind this was that the students who do not want to take mathematics in their future should not face the hard paper of this subject.
• In case a student fails in any one of the three compulsory subjects i.e., Mathematics, science and social science; but passes the skill subject i.e., the sixth subject, then the academic subject will be replaced with the skill subject.
• If a student is not able to pass in any of the 5 primary subjects, then the subject in which the student has failed will be replaced by the sixth subject (either language or subject) and the student will be termed as pass.

CBSE 12^th Class Exam Scheme

• The assessment of the student will be made on the basis of theory exam, internal assessment or practical exam according to the syllabus of every subject.
• The theory exam in board will cover the entire class 12^th syllabus. Marks and grades will be given on the basis of system designed by CBSE. Their will be separate grading for every subject.
• Internal Assessment will be carried out by the respective schools on the basis of rules made by CBSE.

CBSE Exam Pattern

Examination pattern generally comprises of the type of questions, number of questions and the marks allotted to that questions. Knowing the exam pattern helps the students to plan their preparation accordingly. We have described the exam pattern for both class 10^th and 12^th below.

CBSE Exam Pattern 2020- Class 10

In CBSE class 10^th board exam every subject has 100 marks. Out of which 80 marks are for the written exam carried out by the board. And the rest 20 marks are for internal assessment. The theory exam will consist of the whole syllabus. And the internal marks are given on the basis of term tests, notebook submission, assignment submission etc., and is totally dependent on school.

The students has to secure atleast 33% marks in every subject to pass the examination.

CBSE Exam Pattern 2020- Class 12

Generally a total of 26 questions are asked in the cbse class 12^th paper. The total allotted time is of 3 hours for the paper. There are no internal marks in the class 12^th exam. But 30 marks are of practical examination in subjects like physics, chemistry, computer, etc. The students must score at least 33% marks in every subject to pass the exam. The questions pattern is as follows-

Admit Card for CBSE Board Exams 2020

Central Board of Secondary Education generally releases the admit card of board exams in the first week of February month. For private students the admit card is available in online mode on the CBSE website. And the regular candidates must collect the admit card from their respective schools.

The Admit card will contain all the details like students name, roll number, exam center, exam timing and the exam time table as well. The admit card is a very important document and should be kept with care until the exam results are declared.

CBSE Board Results 2020

The exam results of the board exam will be released in May 2020. The students can check their results on the official CBSE website in online mode. The student should enter the details like admit card number, roll number, school number, date of birth and school center number in order to check their result on the jee main website.

CBSE also gives the option for rechecking or re-evaluation of the exam copies if the student is not satisfied with the result. The result after re-checking will be released in the second week of June 2020.

UGC NET

UGC National Eligibility Test is a national level entrance exam conducted to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and assistant professor in universities and colleges under the UGC.

Previously this exam was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education and it was known as CBSE NET, but from December 2018 onwards the National Testing Agency.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate must secure at least an aggregate of 55% in post-graduation to be eligible for the UGC NET exam.
• The age of the candidate should be below 30 years for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF).
• There are age restrictions for the post of assistant professor.
